Addressing the Root Cause of Migration in Central America

Plants Without Borders is working closely with our Cooperative Members to directly address the root cause of migration from Central America to the United States.

"Some estimates say that up to 20% of the population of Guatemala is now in the United States. People leave for the United States for the hope of a better life. Through our work with Plants Without Borders, our goal is to inspire hope that a better life can be found here in Guatemala."

- Miguel Gutierrez, CEO of EXPORGANICA S.A.

Our goal is to democratize access to global trade for smallholders and agribusinesses alike. By stimulating economic development and creating job opportunities, we are doing our part to stem the flow of migration in an ethical fashion.

Advancing LGBTQIA+ Rights

Plants Without Borders stands in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. We encourage our Members to contribute to the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center, our Social Impact Partner.

Access to Financing for Exporters

In some markets, access to transaction financing is scarce. This leaves exporters in a vulnerable position because if something goes wrong in the transaction, the exporter may have no recourse.

With our integrated financing through Shop Pay, that no longer has to be the case. Buyers can now pay in 12 monthly installments, while Plants Without Borders receives and disburses a lump sum. By democratizing access to transaction financing, we are shifting the paradigm of global trade.
